名色
nāmarūpa, name-form, or name and form, one of the twelve (sa) nidānas. In Brahminical tradition it served 'to denote spirit and matter', 'the concrete individual', Keith; in Buddhism it is intp. as the [lang id =1028]五蘊 five (sa) skandhas or aggregates, i, e. a 'body', [lang id =1028]受, [lang id =1028]想, [lang id =1028]行, and [lang id =1028]識 (sa) vedana, (sa) saṃjñā, (sa) karman, and (sa) vijñāna being the 'name' and [lang id =1028]色 rupa the 'form'; the first-named four are mental and the last material. [lang id =1028]色 Rupa is described as the minutest particle of matter, that which has resistance; the embryonic body or foetus is a (sa) nāmarūpa, something that can be named.

◆色即識心, 色即羯邏藍也。 此之名色, 是胎中初七日之形位, 諸根未成之稱, 即五蘊肉團之體, 是為胎中現在果也。 (梵語羯邏藍, 華言凝滑。 五蘊者, 色蘊、 受蘊、 想蘊、 行蘊、 識蘊也。 ) ◆名即是心, 謂心但有名而無形質也; 色即色質, 即是身也。 謂從託胎已後, 至第五箇七日, 名形位, 生諸根形, 四支差別, 是名為色。 (四支者, 即兩手兩足也。 )

1.五蘊的總名, 五蘊之受想行識四蘊為名, 色蘊為色, 因受想行識四蘊是心識的作用, 只有名而無實體, 所以叫做名, 色蘊則是由一些極微物質所構成, 有質礙的物體, 所以叫做色。 2.在十二因緣中, 人在母胎中漸漸生長, 五蘊完具的時候, 叫做名色支。
